  1. This book could be usefull if you are a BRAND new, never set foot in a special ed classroom, teacher. It hit on what I thought was pretty basic issues such as having rules in your classroom, don’t play favorites, discipline the same, etc. Pretty vanilla in my opinion. I’ve been teaching in special education for 6 years and I was hoping for more information. It really did hit on the LD population; not very much on the students who are DD.

When it came to writing the IEP and setting up the meeting, I didn’t get that much help from other teachers or my department head. Luckily I had the Spec. Ed Teachers Companion. It showed me how to make an IEP, how to plan a system for notifying the parents, and how to hold the meeting.

    Thanks Clara
